Tuft & Needle Mattresses
Tuft & Needle is one of the most well-known direct-to-consumer mattress companies. Its mattress line includes three models: the Tuft & Needle, the Mint, and the Hybrid. The Tuft & Needle and the Mint are all-foam models, while the Hybrid pairs foam and coils. While other pages on this site will discuss the Mint and the Hybrid in-depth, this review will focus solely on the Tuft & Needle Mattress.
The Tuft & Needle Mattress, also called the Tuft & Needle Original, is the company’s flagship bed. It is also the company’s most affordable mattress, coming in at a lower-than-average price point for an all-foam model. The mattress is constructed of two layers of high-density polyfoam crafted to isolate motion and contour to the sleeper’s body without trapping heat.
The Tuft and Needle is a fantastic value; considering the soft comfort it offers, the Tuft and Needle is very reasonably priced both on Amazon and the Tuft and Needle website.
The Tuft and Needle should be a great option for combination sleepers; as long as someone is of average weight or lighter, this medium-firm mattress should support them on their back and stomach but still relieve pressure when they are lying on their side.
The T&N Mattress from Tuft & Needle is an all-foam bed offering very good pressure relief and motion isolation.
Below-average pricing makes this mattress a budget-friendly pick.
A fairly responsive, medium-firm feel results in a combined feeling of sleeping “in” and sleeping “on” the mattress.
Tuft & Needle is a U.S.-based mattress and bedding accessory brand that has been in business since 2012. The company was one of the first prominent online ‘bed-in-a-box’ brands, and is today part of Serta Simmons. Tuft & Needle currently offers three individual mattress models. This review will take a closer look at the flagship T&N Mattress, also known as the T&N Original Mattress.
The T&N Mattress is constructed with a comfort layer of gel- and graphite-infused polyfoam and a high-density polyfoam support core. The cover is made from a blend of polyester and polyamide. Altogether, the T&N Mattress measures 10 inches thick. It is considered medium-firm, and rates as a 6.5 on the 1-10 firmness scale.
Tuft & Needle Mattress FAQ
Is T&N Toxic?
Thankfully, no! All the foams used in Tuft & Needle mattresses are CertiPur-US certified, which ensures that they’re free of harmful toxins and chemicals.
Does Tuft & Needle have memory foam?
No. That’s actually one of the key selling points with this bed, that it does not use memory foam. According to the tag, the bed is 100% poly foam, which is common for bed-in-a-box mattresses.
What other products does Tuft & Needle sell?
Tuft & Needle has plenty of other products in addition to their two mattresses. They have sheet sets, duvets, a mattress protector, a mattress topper, and a pillow. Even more, they have an entire furniture section of their website where they sell bed frames, mattress foundations, and pouches (i.e. nicer bean bags). We were surprised to see that they don’t offer an adjustable bed frame.
What certifications does Tuft & Needle have?
The entire T&N mattress has the UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification, which means that it helps to create a healthier indoor environment, among other things. Additionally, the foams are CertiPUR-US certified, which means they’re made without o-zone depleters and certain harmful metals. The cover of the mattress is certified by OEKO-TEX and therefore does not contain any harmful chemicals.
Does Tuft & Needle have coils?
The Original Tuft & Needle mattress does not, however, the company does sell Tuft & Needle Hybrid, which is a coil mattress.
